Man Identified as Bar Victim
Hoquiam, Wash. - A body found on the beach south of Oyehut Tuesday has been identified as that of Melvin Lyle Pringle, 44, drowned December 29 after a fishboat carrying a crew of three capsized while crossing Grays Harbor bar.
The body was discovered about five mile south of Oyehut approach by M.A. Taylor and Homer Taylor Sr., of Copalis.
Pringle, a Grayland fisherman, was accompanied by Irwin Hovis of Grayland and Arvid Berge of Hoquiam when heavy breakers battered the 43-foot craft Victoria, skippered by Berge.
Mr. Pringle was born in Ukiah, Cal., was an air force veteran of World War II, and was employed as a construction worker most of his life.
Surviving are his widow, Ella C., Grayland; two daughters, Miss Edith Lillian Pringle, Grayland, and Miss Shirley Kay Pringle Missoula, Mont; father Alfred L. Pringle, La Mesa, Cal.; mother, Mrs. Edith Patterson, Portland, Or., and stepfather, J ames Patterson, Portland.
The body was sent by the Coleman mortuary to Camas, Wash., where graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday.
