Obituary - Published Sandpoint News Bulletin Thursday Feb 21, 1974 Mrs. Freda Pringle, 87, widow of the late Alfred Lee Pringle of East Hope, Idaho died Saturday evening in Bonner General Hospital where she had been a patient since Wednesday morning. Her only blood-related survivor is he older brother Joh n C. Rogge of Wauwatosa, Wis. Other survivors include a brother -in-law, Homer L. Pringle of Upton, Wyo., and a number of nieces and nephews. She was born Sept. 4, 1886, in Milwaukee, Wis. the daughter of Wilhelmine Ipsen and John Fred Bernard Rogge, both of whom were born in Germany. She attended school in Milwaukee and worked some years in mercantile stores before marrying Mr. Pr ingle in 1917<b> </b>shortly before he went overseas as a serviceman in World War 1. After the war the Pringles went first to Texas and later moved to Wyoming where they managed a store and purchased a ranch. Mrs. Pringle was postmaster at Spotted Horse, Wyo. for some years. Also she was a creditable equestrian and raised b looded greyhounds. In 1940 the Pringles came to the vicinity of Hope where the Pringles held extensive real estate interests around Ellisport Bay. They established Pringle's Addition to East Hope and gave to the public an area known informally as "Pringle Par k" which embraces the public dock area. They built several houses in East Hope, the most scenic of which with its landscaping, fine gardens and woods is now owned by the Arthur Barbours. The last house they built was purchased from Mrs. Pringle by Jay and Marie Carty. In recent y ears Mrs. Pringle had resided near the rustic rock city hall building of East Hope. For years the Pringles spent winters in California and summered in Hope, taking trips to their stock ranch in Wyoming which Mrs. Pringle kept after her husband's death. Mrs. Pringle was interested in care of animals and gardening. She had e vinced interest in the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children in Spokane and the Sandpoint Public Library. Mrs. Pringle's last rites were held Sunday afternoon, followed by cremation at the Coffelt Funeral Home. In her memory some of her friends have established the Freda Pringle Memorial Book Fund at Sandpoint Public Library; 419 North Secon d Ave. Sandpoint, Idaho 83864.
