Note | Blackmer, Leona E., Kalkaska, Michigan, Formerly of Chesaning. Passed away on Saturday morning, July 16, 2005, at the Kalkaska Hospital. Age 81 years.
She was born on September 12, 1923 the daughter of Leo and Mary (Alberts) Morrissette. She married Bud 'Gerald' Blackmer on October 5, 1946. He survives her. Leona had been a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, the Altar Society and Dau ghters of Isabella. Leona retired from Hehr Manufacturing and also worked for Universal Electric. She and her husband moved to Kalkaska in 1987. Surviving are her husband, Bud 'Gerald'; four children, Jean Ann and Karrie Illner, Washington, Mich .; Dale and Linda Blackmer, Grand Haven; Pat Bonner, Saginaw; Jane and Chris Martin, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Maves, Frances Gasper, Jane Alden and Sue Morrissette; sister-in- law, T helma Morrissette; brother-in-law, Joseph Beckman. She was predeceased by two sons, Daniel Blackmer on July 25, 2004 and Donald; her parents, Leo and Mary Morrissette and step-mother, Mary Morrissette; brothers, Albert and Robert Morrissette an d a sister, Lucille Jordan. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Walker- Martin Funeral Ho me, Chesaning, on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. Scripture service 7:00 p.m. Tuesday followed by a Rosary.
