In 1850 Elias Ash and his family were successfully farming on 215 acres of land. Their 60 acres of crops produced, 600 pounds of Irish potatoes and 1000 pounds of sweet potatoes, 40 bushels of wheat, 650 bushels of indian corn, 120 bushels of oa ts, 5 bushels of peas and beans and 150 lbs of flax for linen and 5 bushels of flax seed.
