Deaths
MRS. MARY GUSTAFSON
</b>Mrs. Mary Gustafson, a former well known citizen of Homestead, departed this life yesterday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. DeLinn, of Irwin, aged 68 years. She had been suffering for some time with Bright's disease*.
Mrs. Gustafson came to America from Sweden, where she was born almost 40 years ago, and about twelve years ago located in Homestead, living with the family on Eleventh avenue. Since the death of her husband, Charles Gustafson, who was killed on the B & O railroad nine years ago she has divided her time among her children at Irwin and Homestead. The remains will be conveyed here Monday for internment in Homestead cemetery. Seven children survive: Martin of Rush Run, Gustave and Joseph of Hamnent plan, Homestead, Daniel of Homestead, Mrs. C.O. Carlson and Mrs. DeLinn, of Irwin, and Mrs. C. W. Norder, of McKeesport.
*Bright's disease is a historical classification of kidney diseases that would be described in modern medicine as acute or chronic nephritis. It was characterized by edema, the presence of albumin in the urine and was frequently accompanied by high blood pressure (hypertension). |
