NEWCOMB, MERV - Of Spring Arbor, passed away, age 74 on Wednesday April 27. Born August 16, 1936, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 35 years, Doris (Eagle) in 1993; and by his mother, Edith (Cummings, Newcomb, Moore) Johnson in 1999. Merv delivered milk with Dick Lewis for Forner Lakeside Dairy as a teen, and then worked at Jackson Wire in the mid 50's. He then was a well known Tune-up/ Carburetor/Electrical Auto Mechanic for Ogle Brothers/Bob Blunt Chevrolet in Spring Arbor from 1957 until they closed in 1982. Merv then operated his own business Merv's Automotive until his retirement. He is survived by his daughters, Sheryl (Brad) Gunsalus of Parma, Terry (Ray Rozell) Newcomb of Alabama; granddaughters, Amber (Donovan) Enyart of Jackson and Kasey (Nick Probst) Gunsalus of North Carolina; grandsons, Eric Rozell of Alabama and Ryan (Marsha) Rozell of Tennessee; great-grandson, Riley Rozell; and great-granddaughter, Doryanne Enyart. Merv is also survived by sister, Martha (Ezra) Locklear of North Carolina; brothers, Al Newcomb of Spring Arbor, Ron (Cherry) Moore of Jackson; sister-in- law, Marion Eagle of Pennsylvania; very special cousins, Bob (Sharyl) Allison, Bob (Yvonne) Chase; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Newcomb is at the J. L. Watson Funeral Chapel, where funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Darold Hill officiating. Internment at Spring Arbor Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at the Arbor Café and the regular breakfast group, Kurt Nichols, Ann and the wonderful staff and lunch group at Marino's, for the great meals, friendships and good times. Also thanks to Larry, Wade, Bob, and the Maintenance/ Grounds staff of Spring Arbor University, Fire Chief Tim McEldowney, and Police Chief Russ Ratkiewicz for watching over Dad the past few years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Allegiance Hospital, Carelink and Arbor Manor Rehab for their special care for the past two months.
