Dear Leilani--It has been a while since we last communicated--let me bring you up-to-date.We left for Florida the end of December and just returned last week. While we were there, Aunt Bernie passed away (in late March or April) of lymphoma.} We were sorry not to be able notable to attend the memorial service because of a virus I had. As for the cinnamon buns, my grandmother (Goldie) had many wonderful recipes which have been passed on and I seem to remember raised sticky buns being one of them. I'm not real good with raised dough recipes and have not made them but I'll look for it and pass it on if I find it(it may not be the one you're looking for} Hope all is well with your family--perhaps we could get together some time when you're visiting your daughter in Tampa. |

Dear Leilani:
First let me apopogize for not replying sooner. I received your E-mailand was in the process of responding when I became overwhelmed withThanksgiving preparations. Our daughter Susan and her family( ahusband two children and three dogs) arrived on Tues. of Thanksgivingweek and left the following Sunday. The pre-Thanksgiving activities andthe after Thanksgiving "recovery" got the best of me and I got behind.
I will take the "mystery" woman picture to Florida along with a list ofquestions for Aunt Bernie and Uncle Stan. (Their last name isFrancis). They are living at the Indian River Estates in Vero Beachand now reside in the Medical unit after having lived many years in anindependent apartment there. Aunt Bernie has a bad back andexperiences some short-term memory loss and Uncle Stan has Parkinsonsdisease--but is mentally sharp. We winter in Sarasota and travel acrossthe state each winter to visit with them. You mentioned your daughterlives in a suburb of Tampa. If you visit her between Jan. and April, let me know and perhaps we could meet for lunch (Sarasota is @ one hourSouth of Tampa).
Shortly after I sent my first response to you I realized I had made a mistake stating that Dorcas had gone to live with "Annie" after William died. I got my Gruen and Jones Roots mixed--it was my father's grandmother who went to live with her daughter Annie after her husband died. At various times, both my father's grandparents lived with him in Dawson.
I had lunch with my cousin Dorothy Martin (Goldie's grandaughter by daughter Dorothy) and she seems to remember seeing the "mystery"woman's picture. We both agree that Aunt Ada lived in Chatsworth, CA--but don't remember when. I'm hoping some of these questions can be answered by Aunt Bernie and Uncle Stan.
We wish you and yours a most happy and blessed Christmas. We don't take our computer to Fla. but use one at the library every other day--so we would still get E-mails. Our address in Fla is 3520 Gladstone Street. Sarasota, FL 34231-8613
Much love, Mary Ann |
